Sure, Melania wasn’t looking to find true love with a poor man whose green card had expired. That’s because that only happens in the movies. She lived in real life. Pretty much every woman in her circumstances would have loved to find a rich American citizen to start a life with. By extension, that means pretty much every woman is a whore. That’s a very pessimistic and misogynistic view, and certainly one I can’t subscribe to.
Every one of us tries to get the most value from our marketable assets. Her asset was beauty and she capitalized on it.
That was kind of a devil’s bargain, because she doesn’t seem to be a happy woman, but I suppose life has its trade-offs. She got wealth, comfort, a secure life for her child and a position as First Lady. She surrendered a chance for true love. I don’t think you can call that prostitution. I’d call it brilliant bargaining skills.
I should say VERY brilliant, because I can’t name a single woman who achieved so much with so little to offer.

She was never 30+ years old while a resident in Illinois, so that was never an option. She could have run for the Senate from Arkansas back in the day.
She and Bill owned no other residence while they were in the White House, so it was completely up to them where to live after his second term. It’s not really fair to call her a carpetbagger, because they didn’t give up a home elsewhere to live in Chappaqua. They had to live somewhere, so they chose NY, and still live there 25 years later. For people interested in geopolitics, NY is pretty much the only state on the menu. (I guess they could have lived in Maryland or Virginia to stay in D.C, politics.)
