Why stop there? There is no requirement to be ELECTED to the papacy other than that the electee must be an unmarried, male, baptized Catholic. He would have to be ordained priest and bishop (if he is not one already) before ASSUMING the papacy, because the Pope is also the Bishop of Rome.
Of course the first pope was a Jewish fisherman, and many non-priests have been elected Pope.
Benedict IX had been a layman, and was not yet 21 years old.
Giovanni de’ Medici, son of the famous Lorenzo, also got the fast track to the priesthood. He was elected pope on March 9 as a layman, was ordained a priest on the 13th, and consecrated a bishop on the 15th. He received the papal crown as Leo X on the 19th. He wasn’t great at the job. In fact, he was so bad that he did more than any other pope to weaken the primacy of Catholicism among Christian believers. He almost caused the downfall of Catholicism by his unfettered and shameless marketing of indulgences, a major impetus for Martin Luther’s “95 Theses,” which was written and published during his papacy.
The point here is that JD Vance can be elected Pope if his marriage is annulled! In the tradition of Leo X, he could do for Catholicism what MAGA has done for America. Moreover, as Pope he could infallibly command the six Catholics on the Supreme Court to bow to his will or be excommunicated.
If Trump were to pass from this realm, JD would then be Pope and President –
