A comedy legend, Larry David, wrote this article. Although he never mentions Bill Maher or Donald Trump, they are obviously the real targets of his ridicule.
It’s pretty, pretty, pretty good.

There are fads and then there are fails. I get that we all have bad hair days but these folks actually think their hair looks just fine. In fact, they did this to their hair on purpose. I know hair is nothing more than dead cells yet these people managed…
Maybe not the twenty best. Some of them are pretty dumb, but you have to love #1. Shout out to the always entertaining Cumberbatch for photobombing the ever-so-serious Bono. Share via: Facebook X (Twitter) LinkedIn More
More than things on the list, here are things that make me nostalgic for the 80s: 1. Youthploitation comedies – Curtis Armstrong, Diane Franklin, Bill and Ted, Savage Steve Holland 2. Body Heat 3. Cousin Eddie 4. Video games in every convenience store. 5. The 1985 Bears – Refrigerator Perry,…
Larry’s obsession with this guy already ruined the last couple seasons of his show, but I guess he just can’t quit him.
I didn’t find the last two seasons disappointing. I thought Albert’s funeral and several other episodes were terrrific. I liked both seasons better than the Mocha Joe plot.
Hinging the entire thing on a fake premise about voting aged it horribly. Even re-watching it a few years later I had trouble remembering what the hell he was talking about.
It was a funny idea. All of Larry’s situations are exaggerated versions of real life. That was just his usual shtick.
And frankly, it wasn’t really much of an exaggeration. What do you mean by a fake premise?
The state of Georgia actually did have such a law (SB 202), and I think that provision (about not providing water to voters in line) is still in effect, even though the Federal courts tossed out many other parts of the law in 2023.
The law says pretty much what Larry claimed (see below).
It is a misdemeanor to violate the law, punishable by up to 12 months in jail and a $1,000 fine, so Larry David really could have gotten twelve months in the slammer for giving his friend a bottle of water.
Larry crying because his tv wife went Maga lol
The last 2 seasons were brilliant! So is this article, well played LD, well played.
The piece is brilliant. And it’s pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good.
Bill Maher isn’t worth a satire this crisp. I’d rather see him fly off a motorcycle and get his head lodged up a horse’s ass a la the evil captain in Police Academy.
FINALLY someone mentions the important part. Trump is too easy a target, this is a brilliant takedown of Maher.
Behind this mask of being a smart (OK, maybe a little, moreso compared to Rump) rational (eh, sorta) Libertarian – aka, crypto-Republican who doesn’t want to get kicked out of the party and pelted with rocks and garbage – he’s just helping to sanewash/normalize gutting the Constitution while driving the economy into the ground like a tentstake.
I’m not your biggest fan, but Bullseye, Larry!
OH MY GOD! SOMEONE CALL A VETERINARIAN!!!!!!!
it’s not good always amazing how when a democrat is president you hear oh we want bi-partisanship and we can work together but Trump or any Republican he’s hitler it’s so old now and your true colors are why the dems approval rating is at like 20%
As are as I could make that rant out, Angelo T seems to be saying that Trump is Hitler. I don’t think he’s there yet, but I agree that’s the direction he wants to go. Given his love for dictators who are absolute rulers of their county, his rubber-stamp Congress, and his disregard for court orders, I don’t see how anyone could argue with it. It’s only his inherent gutlessness that’s holding him back.
Dictators tell you, you can’t go to work or eat in a restaurant unless you get a shot. Dictators say i’m ignoring the supreme court even though they told me I can’t cancel student loans. Dictators say the court should rule my way or else reap the whirlwind.
So what are you saying, that two wrongs make a right? If President A does things that defy the Supreme Court, then President B gets a free pass to do likewise?
“Dictators tell you, you can’t go to work or eat in a restaurant unless you get a shot.:
Slight correction:
The government tells you that you can’t go to work or school or a hospital or eat in a restaurant unless you are willing to not kill anyone else while you are there. That may involve preventing you from carrying a gun, or it may involve preventing you from carrying a disease.
Nobody forces you to get a shot if you stay in your house and don’t infect anyone else. Nobody cares if you want to kill yourself. Go ahead. It only becomes important when you want to kill us.
Furthermore, the Supreme Court previously had ruled that “It is within the police power of a State to provide for compulsory vaccination” and that mandates bestowed “only that broad discretion required for the protection of the public health.”
“The government tells you that you can’t go to work or school or a hospital or eat in a restaurant unless you are willing to not kill anyone else while you are there. That may involve preventing you from carrying a gun, or it may involve preventing you from carrying a disease.”
Kind of a leap to equate carrying a gun with carrying a disease, isn’t it? I carry a gun every time I leave the house. Have for years. To date, I’ve killed exactly zero people with it. Guns don’t kill people, bad people kill people. Of course, I’ve also had exactly zero covid shots and haven’t died yet, but that’s probably just as baffling to most lefties.
It is a false equivalence, but not in the way you think.
Carrying a disease is much more deadly than carrying a gun. With a gun, nearly 100% of all fatalities occur through intention. Excepting the very rare accident, you don’t kill anyone unless you want to. With a disease, you kill people whether you intend to or not. You don’t even know whether you have killed them or whether they carried the disease you gave them, and later killed somebody else. About 50,000 Americans die from gun incidents each year, so it takes two decades for firearm incidents to compare to the toll from COVID.
While you haven’t died yet, if you ever had COVID and continued close contact with people, it’s impossible to say how many vulnerable people you may have killed from those you transmitted it to, or from the people that they, in turn, transmitted it to. (To be fair, a very small percentage of people who contract COVID die from it, although that varies dramatically within certain sub-groups, contingent on age, general health, other pre-existing conditions, etc.)
I have been lucky. Somehow, I never got COVID at all and there were times when I got sloppy about contact. Almost everyone I know had it at least once.
As to the gun issue, I held jobs when I could carry one (I carried massive bank deposits in cash, sometimes through shady neighborhoods), but I didn’t feel like my rights were violated if I couldn’t carry one into the bank. The same would have been true if I had had to enter a hospital, school or “gated” workplace.

If this is a haiku, you forgot to finish it, but I’m fine with that.
