There was a little excitement for a change, as conference play began in earnest. Three of the top ten teams lost.
This week’s feature was a tremendous game between #4 Alabama and #2 Georgia. ‘Bama scored on their first four possessions to take a 28-0 lead. Georgia fought back to take the lead in the 4th quarter – then lost on an Alabama TD in the final minutes.
Kent State watch: they continue to be the lowest-rated FBS team in the computer ratings after allowing 52 points to Eastern Michigan. That’s right at their average of points allowed per game (51.4 – worst in the nation).
The Kent State watch used to be a Rutgers watch, and not so long ago. Here’s a shocker for you: Rutgers is rated #29 in the coaches’ poll. That’s not a typo. Irrespective of how they finish the season, you have to give the school credit for building a respectable program out of virtually nothing in a relatively short time.

The fightin’ Bobcats are undefeated this year, undoubtedly headed for yet another national championship. They refer to themselves as FSU, so they can truthfully say, “FSU is a three-time national champion.”
Go, ‘Cats.
