She used to wear those high-waisted outfits that covered her belly button leading the conspiracy-minded to theorize that she was a lab-grown creation.
If memory serves– this was about 12 years ago– there was a thing of She Wouldn’t Show Her Navel, but then they realized a paparazzi had gotten bikini shots of her on a boat, so she intentionally took her own and posted them on her instagram to beat out the paparazzi selling them.

She is not nude, granted, but she is still showing a fair bit. There are many more pics from that series that have gone online and I for one am grateful.
The days when pop singers were naked are gone lol… Madonna, Lady Gaga, and even Miley Cyrus, recently. In recent years, Brazilian singer Anitta has occasionally been naked in documentaries, photos, etc., but it’s not the same as it used to be with these aforementioned singers.
The days when pop singers were naked barely existed in the first place. Madonna was an outlier.
Yeah, I agree. 3 pop singers over a 50 year timespan does not equal to a trend.
I’m just saying that I can’t see any of the big pop stars in music today, like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, or Ariana Grande, for example, getting completely naked like Madonna and Lady Gaga did so often in the past. Yes, I know that some famous singers still get naked quite often these days, but none of them have the level of fame I mentioned above.
If Sabrina Carpenter continues to become more famous I can see her getting naked (she’s already done see through shots, after all). But also, what I was saying was – there were big gaps between Madonna, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus getting naked. It could be that the next pop superstar will be less shy.
(On a side note, I wouldn’t put Selena Gomez on the same level as Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. She is a succesful singer, certainly, but her songs aren’t dominating the genre).
Selena Gomez has more Instagram followers than any other woman in the world – more than Taylor Swift, more than Beyonce, more than Ariana Grande, more than J-Lo. In fact, she has more followers than anyone else in the entertainment industry, male or female, and the most followers of any American in any field, male of female.
Of course, that’s not all because of her music, but the fact remains that she is a HUGE star.
Yeah, I can’t explain that, but the only stars that burn brighter than Selena are soccer greats Messi and Ronaldo.
You clearly aren’t watching the streaming video channels. Granted, the women do wear g-strings and only show their bare ass occasionally. See thru tops and pasties provide some modesty. Many women are even performing topless. They are far more naked now than they have ever been. Unfortunately modern music is pretty worthless, but the videos are worth a watch on mute.
I was gonna say, if anything, it’s more naked than ever. Megan Thee Stallion has her glorious ass visible in most of her videos, for one. Halsey made movie of all music videos where she’s completely naked. Doja Cat, Doechii, Cardi B, etc., etc. Really, the only thing that holds most of them back is the best venues to put out their work– Youtube, Instagram, the few mainstream magazines that exist, etc.,– doesn’t want to show nudity, so they go as close to the line as they can. NOW, that might not be music you like or pay attention to, but there are a lot more top-tier pop stars who have not been at all shy.

Yes, I’m not getting into the merits of Selena Gomez’s talent or whether her songs still dominate the genre, but it’s a fact that she’s still one of the biggest celebrities in the world. It’s no wonder she’s the most followed female celebrity on Instagram worldwide. I don’t know if these other stars mentioned from her generation will reach the level famous she once had and still has, even if they are more talented or dominate the genre more.
