I really thought the Jays could win it with the last two in Toronto, but no dice. The Dodgers won yet another nail-biter.
Closing it out on zero days rest, Yoshinobu Yamamoto went 3-0 with a 1.02 ERA in the Fall Classic. He’s the first pitcher to notch three wins in a single World Series since the Big Unit did it for the Diamondbacks in 2001. Yamamoto and The Unit are the only two pitchers to win games 6 and 7 in the integration area. That guy was clutch, and it was needed, because Blake Snell and Ohtani stunk it up on the mound.
That’s two championships in a row for the Dodgers. I guess we don’t call them Dem Bums any more. Now it’s more like Dem MoFos.
What can ya say? It’s good to have money. Maybe it can’t buy happiness, but it can assemble a helluva ball team.

Frustrating to watch as a Canadian fan. The Jays had SO many opportunities to win it in the last two games. They were batting around the ball well and getting runners on the bases (often all of the bases), but just repeatedly — inning after inning — could not get that one extra hit that would have allowed more runners to score. Great World Series though – you can’t ask for more than to go into extra innings in a Game 7. I just wish the result in the extra innings would have been different!
I would add that, surprisingly. Ohtani was not a huge factor in the last two games. Nor was the Dodger pitching a huge factor in general. The Jays were getting plenty of hits – more than the Dodgers. Some great defensive fielding plays by the Dodgers though and some clutch hitting, when it was really needed, by the secondary stars on LA.
Sometimes it ain’t what you do, but when you do it.
Just ask Bill Mazeroski.
not a coastal or big money Baseball fan in general but I found this Dodger crew hard to dislike. Freeman, Betts, Muncy, Edman, Smith.. . all are sort of old-school grinders. And Yamamoto ! He was warming up at the end of the 18 inning game! Dude is is like “just give me the ball” I only wish Kershaw could have gotten a win for pitching to his one batter with bases loaded.
