The subject of Ed Anger came up in another thread, so I went searching for some of his columns.
Some of his classic opening lines:
- I’m madder than a leprechaun with a crooked shillelagh
- I’m madder than a zombie with a mouth full of Biden’s brain
- I’m madder than a Arab with a three-legged camel
I didn’t remember that the WWN had a running gag where they blamed Biden for everything. (Example) I have never blamed Joe. It is my belief that one can always blame the Bossa Nova (the dance of love). On those rare occasions when the Bossa Nova is innocent, I blame the Oprah Book Club.
Here’s something scary. I’m pretty sure the WWN was satirizing right-wing anger, ala The Colbert Report, but they genuinely attracted a right-wing audience who took it seriously. I took a quiz from their pop-up, just to see the results, and I found that 80% of the people who answered were in favor of a border wall.
I wonder how many fans of the old Colbert Report were right-wingers who must have been shocked to hear his vitriolic anti-Trump monologues on the CBS show.
