An interesting mixture of good films and bad, noble efforts and ego trips, and a host of ill-advised musicals. Two of them bankrupted their studios. Others ended careers.

Snoop Dogg to carry Olympic torch ahead of Paris opening ceremony
Ah, the eternal Olympic flame. May it always burn. But what if it accidentally goes out? Who is prepared to act? At first blush, Snoop seems like an eccentric choice for the job, but they wanted a celebrity, and he’s the only one who always carries a lighter. Share via:…

An interesting topic but the AI script / narrator made this a tough watch.
Ah, AI, that explains why I couldn’t place the accent. Never hear a human pronounce “folie a deux” that way. Too bad they didn’t dial up a voice like that guy in every 90s trailer who says “In a world…”
There is a movie with the title “In a World…”. Lake Bell both directed and starred. A lot of funny people did cameos. I never saw it; I think Scoop wrote about it.
Fred Melamed
AI slop as they say. Interesting topic, but cannot watch it.
It has good visuals and a good script.. For the life of me, I don’t know why they don’t hire a human to narrate it. There are plenty of out-of-work actors who would do it for next to nothing, and probably capable amateur actors who would do it for free if they got a credit.
Time and money. Even if he works for little money, you have to organize it, record it, bill it, etc.
Compare this with simply giving it to a machine which produces it instantly for free or very cheap.
When the AI voice, accent is perfected, no trivial voice work will be done with actors, only in prestige movies which advertise using real actors.
The bottom of the food chain is going to disappear for actors, as well as for other professions which makes the future of many professions doubtful if there are no entry level jobs.
Yes, when it is perfected.
I believe it will be, but it ls far from it now, although some YouTube channels are already pretty good at it. This one does an excellent job.
The sad part is that AI pronunciation is easy to correct, but the people who produce these vids just don’t care. Churn ’em out and release ’em to get views.
The main question is do the viewers care? If they watch videos with AI voices then there is no reason to employ real actors.
The creators would change their methods if viewers boycotted all AI videos en masse, but this not the case, many people watch them, so there is no market reason not to use AI for mass produced videos.
I reckon you’re right. The market exercises its own form of control, for better or worse.
And I expect AI getting commonplace for nude scenes too. There is no need for the actress to expose herself, no need for initmacy coordinators, no need for close sets, etc.
Why persuade someone to strip when AI will be able to simply draw it? It’s only a question of when AI gets to the point when you can’t tell it from the real thing.
Some prestige projects may not use AI for this, but run of the mill movies will have AI nudity, since it will be quicker, simpler and cheapear (no need to pay intimacy people, organize the set for this, etc.).
Awful AI commentary, but I was waiting for it to reach ‘Snow White’. Notice how so many of the later movies were made by Disney,
