Considering a career in ‘rasslin’?
Eddie Guerrero died of natural causes at age 38. That might be a sign you’ve chosen the wrong profession.
And whatever you do, don’t agree to do a 70-foot fall, no matter how much they’ve padded your landing. Owen Hart died of unnatural causes at 34.

Its gotten better in the modern era with so many streaming deals giving these shows all the revenue they need, so they’re only on the road once or twice a week. I can’t imagine the combination of factors wrestlers had to do in the 80s, 90s, or 00s though. Constantly fly or drive to new cities 3-4 times a week on your own dime to do shows. Somehow fit in some sort of fitness regiment to look like a bodybuilder. Keep an illegal PED regiment on a regular basis who knows the purity or dosage of. Try to keep protein intake up constantly to maintain muscle. Constantly subject your body to head, neck, and back trauma. Drink or do painkillers heavily to numb the trauma. Deal with the stress of losing your spot or job easily with backstage politics and bullying with no union.
A ton of shit to deal with, and its no wonder so many come out the other side both mentally and physically fucked, and aren’t alive much longer. Unless you’re Ric Flair, who is proving you apparently don’t require multiple organs to function to stick around a while.
And before the AIDS scare, they always had to be prepared to cut themselves to create a lot of blood, thus making the violence seem more realistic. Dusty Rhodes was the blading master.
