Several errors in the captions (“Vesper race?”) but #12 has a little story behind it. The caption is wrong; Merry & Pippin didn’t go to Mount Doom. Helicopters were used to shuttle the actors when they were shooting the Fellowship in the snowy mountains (Caradhras). One bumpy chopper ride made nervous-flier Sean Bean decline further transport via air. Instead, he would leave an hour or so early and walk the whole way up to the set (in costume). The hobbit actors remembered looking down from their helicopters and seeing Bean trudging alone up the mountain.
Yeah, these are cool pictures, but it seems so me that it’d only “wreck movies” for people who don’t understand that movies aren’t real.
