I watched it again a couple of times, and I still don’t entirely get it. I think that she is beautiful and I am a fan, but she is just dancing around in some jeans. It is somewhat sexy, but nothing special.

Remember Katie Holmes, Anna Paquin, Phoebe Cates? We saw them as little kids, then guys fantasized about them when they became womanly. They were the girls we did our homework with, the girls we played kickball with in fifth grade, and they were suddenly gorgeous. Sadie Sink is the new Katie Holmes. Plus she’s a sexy redhead.
To me, Stranger Things is just a name in the TV listings. I’ve never seen a moment of it. As a result, my reaction is like yours – “Yeah, she’s super, but what’s the big deal?”
But I know that show had and still has a cultural impact far beyond its viewership numbers. I can guarantee you that if Sadie did a pretty good nude scene, she would challenge the Katie Holmes record for the highest percentage of the votes. I’m not certain that Millie Bon Bon could do that well, but I think she also would win the poll. If they did a nude lesbian scene together, they would break the poll, Reddit, the internet, and possibly the stalemates in Ukraine and Iran.
I saw and enjoyed the whole series. I do like the fantasy/horror genre and I thought that Stranger Things was a fairly good example of a good series in of that type. But what I especially liked about it was its portrayal of the friendship between the kids. In fact, as the series went on, I thought the fantasy/horror elements of it became a bit convoluted and tiresome, and did not really have a great payoff in the end. But its portrayal of loyalty and friendship was quite touching. Sadie was among the best of the actors and actresses on the series and I hope that she has a career going forward into adulthood.
Yeah I would say it’s on the right side of the worth-it line. I had fun watching with my kid and explaining that they had somewhere found an authentic late-70s Doritos bag for that one scene.
Not all home runs, but lots of screaming-liner doubles to the gap. You can skip episodes and not be totally lost.
