Here’s another new Spanish movie, this time the musical romantic comedy Todos los Lados de la Cama, which is a 20-years-later follow up to two movies: 2002’s El Otro Lado de la Cama and 2005’s Los 2 Lados de la Cama.
Both earlier movies were an odd mix of sexy romantic comedy and musical numbers, but they kinda worked with a wild young cast performing their fair share of nudity. I had no idea the new film was a follow-up until a minute in, when the first musical number started up, and it all became clear that this was related. Basically the movie is about the children of Javier and Carlota, who had a relationship in the second movie but split up and had children with others. Their children fall for one another, and the parents try to sabotage their relationship. That attempt doesn’t necessarily go to plan. Interestingly Natalia Verbeke, who was one of the lovers in the first movie briefly appears as Javier’s now wife, so that’s a strange development.
The new film features nice, albeit brief, nudity from Lucía Caraballo. I’m pretty sure this is her nude debut.
