This is sort of a poor man’s Cronenberg film, a sci-fi body-horror flick from the DC universe.
It is quite popular:

Clayface unravels one man’s horrifying descent from rising Hollywood star to revenge-filled monster in a story that explores the loss of one’s identity and humanity, corrosive love, and the dark underbelly of scientific ambition.
I liked this better than most ultra-violent revenge flicks because many of the people killed by Mr. Face, or Clay as I like to call him, deserved their fates, so I was rooting for the monster and was not offended by the gruesome fates of the victims. (But Mr. Face was not an especially nice fellow either.)
