Typewriters, rotary phones, phone booths … These pics didn’t make me nostalgic for the 60s. They made me glad they are over. Share via: Facebook X (Twitter) LinkedIn More
Ah, the eternal Olympic flame. May it always burn. But what if it accidentally goes out? Who is prepared to act? At first blush, Snoop seems like an eccentric choice for the job, but they wanted a celebrity, and he’s the only one who always carries a lighter. Share via:…
Before her lengthy stint on TNG, Marina did nude scenes in small-to-supporting roles in three mainstream films. That isn’t surprising, as it was a typical path for an aspiring actress in her 20s in the 1980s. What was surprising was her final nude scene in Paradise Lost, which took place…
I’d love to see stats on his average number of days spent per movie. Also on his income. 79 gigs in one year?
I have no idea what would be realistic numbers, but let’s say the low end is $10k per pop, which is $790K annually for 240 days work (assuming 3 days per job). That’s actually a fair amount of time and not luxurious pay by Hollywood standards.
Since he’s an Oscar-nominated actor, maybe it’s closer to $100k per job, $7.9M annually and probably more in line with what I’d expect.
I was wondering about the economics of his life. When he agrees to do a film, do the companies have to agree to pick up his travel expenses? If not, he probably spends at least a quarter million per year on planes and hotels. Then he must have some assistants to make sure his bookings don’t conflict, since he has no time to screw around with that, and it could be immensely time-consuming.
Finally, if he does pull in a good living, when does he get to enjoy it?
I don’t know how true it is, but I saw him claim recently that he just loves acting. He says he just wants to do it all the time and that’s why he’s always working on something. So that could be his enjoyment.
I can believe that. Unless he’s got a lot of obligations to pay off, you figure that he could have a perfectly comfortable life without all that work if he really wanted to. But if he’s having fun, isn’t much of a homebody, and has somebody managing all the details, why not? And every once in a while he gets to spend time on a first-class gig like The Dark Knight.
Scoop, this is why you should start your own podcast. Roberts can be your second guest (after Shatner, of course).
I even have some good ideas for titles:
“Crap TIme”
“Between Two Craps”
“Crapital Gang”
He was nominated for an Oscar? Was it an exceptionally weak year?
Law of averages, more like. Throw enough crap at the wall, etc.
