It’s ol’ Disco Joe, as they call ‘im! Man, that guy can get down!
Oh, yeah, we’re doin’ the Mitch
Ya just stand still like a bitch
(Doin’ it, doin’ it)
I wish all guys would dance like this. I’m a poor dancer, but in a world of Bidens, I would be Baryshnikov!

I can not wait for this guy to lose

Apologies to actual morons …
Tom Nichols: “Perhaps the greatest trick Donald Trump ever pulled was convincing millions of people—and the American media—to treat his lapses into fantasies and gibberish as a normal, meaningful form of oratory. But Trump is not a normal person, and his speeches are not normal political events.”
“For too long, Trump has gotten away with pretending that his emotional issues are just part of some offbeat New York charm or an expression of his enthusiasm for public performance. But Trump is obviously unfit—and something is profoundly wrong with a political environment in which he can now say almost anything, no matter how weird, and his comments will get a couple of days of coverage and then a shrug, as if to say: Another day, another Trump rant about sharks.”
No, the greatest trick Donald Trump ever pulled was making Joe look less like dogshit. Sure, after losing to Hillary, I get the idea of “we have to fight a geezer with a geezer.” But now we have millions of Americans going OK, no one wants Dean Phillips, let’s get this over with; and millions more going LESSER of two evils? Funk that, this is Murica!
And look who both parties have warming up in the bullpen. The next eight years looks like nine miles of bad road.
Some comic pointed out how the rest of the world must view us: “You have 330 million people, right? And out of that vast throng, the best you could come up with was a choice of these two morons to be your leader?”
Dem party is god awful! So what does that tell you about the Rep party? They’re certifiable having won the popular vote once since 1988. 😮 Trump cuckold sheep cult notwithstanding. Apologies to sheep. And so it goes …
Yielding back the balance of my time.
I take at least some small comfort in the fact that the Democrats still seem to have some sane, sensible, intelligent members. The GOP seems to be totally lost in fear of the Orange one.
I think that because of the way the economy has gone since the postwar boom stalled out, that a lot of people have so many problems they pay only the most cursory attention to politics. Maybe they do their best to ignore it; that’s what I do with professional sports.
If they vote at all, a lot of people vote on what they want to believe, or on trivial factors that have caught their attention, and ignore anything to the contrary. That has been good for the party that has been willing to lie freely and behave the most childishly, which is to say the Republicans.
The postwar boom ended not long before Ronald Reagan and the conservative counter-reaction to postwar liberalism. Much of the way the economy has gone has been due to the polices favoring the wealthy the conservatives have put into place. (Actually, they have not ben “conservative” for quite a while. They have become radical right.)
I think this accounts for a lot of the poor electoral choices made by Americans. Of course, plain old racism, misogyny, and homophobia has been working for the Republicans too. The racism part goes back even farther, to Nixon’s “Southern Strategy”.
I reject the idea that Joe Biden is dumb, and I point to the actual achievements of his administration. Donald Trump used to be a shrewd manipulator of people, but he appears to be getting senile.
I guess a lot of this does not address the topic at hand. I guess I just felt like saying it.
If I could edit this, I would remove the word “conservative” in “conservative counter-reaction”. There is usually a counter-reaction to any party that has been in power for a long time.
For those critical of Biden, other than ‘vibes’ what exactly don’t you like? I ask especially since Biden isn’t a King but is a President with a Congress as a co-equal branch.
2024 Biden doesnt seem like the Biden of recent years. Especially in the past year, he really seems to be failing. A couple of years ago he just seemed like an older man. These days he seems like an OLD man. His thought processes seem slow. His body motions are exceedingly slow. I’m really crossing my fingers to hope that he will be able to stay on top of his game in those debates. If he seems senile, he’ll lose the independents and low-info undecideds.
Maybe, I haven’t seen it but I don’t watch television news. I know in the last year the New York Times and other media outlets have been doing a full court press to convince every American of what you just said.
The most I’ve seen from online is that Biden might take a few seconds to get up to speed in a press conference but that once he’s going his semantic memory kicks in and he’s very sharp.
Not to be too arrogant and I’m no expert myself, but most people don’t have a very good grasp of public policy to appreciate how he’s considering the nuances of what he’s saying, but you understand, you can tell how careful he is and he’s not actually slow at all. I’m not saying he’s playing 4D chess and from what I see I agree he can lose his train of thought. But, overall everything I’ve seen leads me to believe the concerns, at this point, are nothing more than narrative based media sensationalism. In the case of the New York Times, the publisher is clearly not even hiding any more that he wants Biden to lose and Trump to win.
The Biden Administration governing style mirrors this (not that they have to, obviously.) Biden/the Admin is slow and deliberative and then decisive (where they have the power.) We’ve actually seen this over and over whether on the spending bills, Ukraine, China and even Afghanistan.
To the impatient media and general public, this isn’t ‘I want it done yesterday!’ performative ‘tough management’ but it’s genuinely capable as competent. As capable and competent as you can get from a President and not a King.
I don’t disagree that Biden has been filmed a few times doing alarming things like in this video, but I suspect his main problem is that in an increasingly performative political atmosphere if not America in general; Biden’s deliberative competence just doesn’t fit with the ‘vibes’ of the times.
