German comedy. Original title: Selbstverfickung (self-fucking)
It follows Gregor Samsa, a washed-up director in his late fifties who is reviewing his life. His having wasted it as a cultural worker doesn’t exactly add to his joy. After Suck My Dick (2001) this is the second movie directed by Oskar Roehler in which the main character shares his name with a famous lead from literature. While in Suck My Dick (2001) the main characters were called Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (despite the movie not being related to the works of Robert Louis Stevenson), in this movie the main character is called Gregor Samsa, named after the main character from “The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka.

There was a movie called “Suck My Dick”?
How did it do at the Oscars that year?
The film itself didn’t win anything, but Dame Judi Dench won the nod for best Supporting Actress. It was quite a shocker at the acceptance speech when “Judi” removed her mask to reveal that she was actually Daniel Day Lewis playing the part of Judi Dench. He had stayed in character from the time the film was made until the Oscar ceremony, which was not easy because he is about a foot taller. But the man is dedicated to his craft.
If I recall, SMD did win nearly every Golden Globe.
Jawohl, I have a boner, fraulein
