I think there is one completely constitutional way Trump could serve more terms. It’s not the Vice-President loophole, because that seems to be closed by the 22hd Amendment, which limits who can be elected, and the 12th Amendment, which implies that anybody ineligible to run for President is automatically ineligible…
As president, Trump briefly attempted to get Justice officials to twist campaign finance laws and the federal equal-time rule to declare that anti-Trump material broadcast by Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and others was somehow illegal. During his 2024 campaign, according to a source with direct knowledge, Trump…
Irony the first person he mentions is Eisenhower and selective examples of immigration.
Guess he’s going to ignore the policies on the tax rates on the rich back to where they were in the 50s, as well as the large scale government infrastructure projects the rich have benefited from since.
Not to mention the dislike of the military-industrial complex that is pumping blood money into Lockheed and their execs.
Ike would have been called a progressive liberal with the same exact economic policies these days, mainly because those who took advantage of them back then got theirs and then spent the rest of their lives making sure others didn’t.
Higher taxes wouldn’t change much as the world has become vastly different since then & globalized. But even talking about taxes is erroneous to begin with. Just look at covid lockdowns and subsequent bipartisan congressional bills, which have led to some of the highest, upwards wealth re-distributions in history of the west.
Fun (but little know fact): PPP “loans” during covid (many of them get forgiven) have also led to one of biggest scams in history, where in (mainly) members of certain “minority” groups created fake businesses and took money, then used it for vacations, shopping, etc. Many of them carried names such as “New Wakanda LLC.” “Moneyyrayne,” “Free Money LLC,” etc. Similarly, if you look through Twitter, you’ll find many said members of said minority groups lamenting about how good they had it scamming money through PPP “loans,” some even thanking Trump for it.
I guess White Christian Conservatives could be considered a minority.
Yeah, but they weren’t the ones doing it and bragging about it, and of course not being held accountable for it, with few rare exceptions (usually when it went into millions and were dumb enough to spend most of it on luxurious items).
No, they were just massively wealthy individuals or companies who swallowed up the PPP loans before the companies who needed them could get them.
As tends to happen, you’re targeting minorities picking up pennies while the richest gobble up dollars. I look forward to your diatribe against welfare moms.
