Belladone is a dystopian sci-fi flick from France.

In 2050, a law requires elderly people to go to institutions to end their lives so as not to be a burden on society. To escape this injunction, a small group of seniors hides on an island cut off from the world. A 30-year-old woman takes care of these rebellious rebels by imposing a fairly strict lifestyle to protect them.

The arrival of a sailboat brings joy and life back to the small community anesthetized by routine. But the caregiver is suspicious of the intentions of these newcomers, who advocate uninhibited hedonism. Her suspicion turns to worry when the old members start dying one after the other.

Well, that overview didn’t exactly whet my appetite, so I didn’t watch the film, but I found the nude scene as underwhelming as the Times found the rest of the film.

I guess she’s wearing pasties (??). Between that and the framing & editing, it’s basically not a nude scene at all. At least that was my take. You can decide for yourself in the video

Phoebe has done much better nude scenes before.

Dutch dramedy

When introverted municipal officer HERBERT (40) is suddenly kicked out of his mother’s house, he stumbles into the chaos of an overheated housing market. A desperate search lands him, by mistake, in a vibrant and lively student house. Herbert clings to his own routines, but the wild parties, disorganized students, and constant plumbing issues are pushing him to his breaking point. He feels completely out of place. However, returning to his mother is not an option. His adaptability is tested on all sides. And just when he begins using his bureaucratic know-how to fix the chaos in the house, his own colleagues turn against him. Herbert will have to choose a new path to get his life back on track.

Dutch made-for-TV dramedy from the Dutch equivalent of PBS.

Ines is a woman in her late twenties who calls herself a poet, and is constantly being reminded that she has not entered the real, adult world. Her roommate and best friend: a steady boyfriend, a job in a gallery, friends who make adult choices. Ines has nothing, except a lot of sex. She has never been loved, only wanted, and when the latter is gone, there is nothing left. Her life needs a new direction. Can she ever become an adult without sacrificing what makes her unique?

Screwball youthploitation comedy

The girlfriend of a dweeb is sent away to a Catholic girls’ boarding school by her uptight Dad (Burt Ward) in order to protect her from amorous advances. Rounding up support from his faithful friends, the dipshit sets out to free his girl (Tracy Dali) from the hell of imposed celibacy.

Virgin High featured topless scream queens and Burt Ward. In other words, it had everything a movie really needs, as this trailer demonstrates:

They don’t make trailers like that any more, do they?

Oh, sure, this is a totally dumb (3.7 at IMDb) movie, but dammit, I miss the 80s and 90s, when they made totally dumb movies on purpose, as the good lord intended.

If only MAGA stood for Make America Goofy Again.
