In addition to the coveted Best Picture Oscar, this film had also won the Palme d’Or at Cannes.
Anora, a young sex worker from Brooklyn, meets and impulsively marries the son of an oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her fairytale is threatened as his parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled.

I dunno if Mikey likes it, but I do.
Yes it’s a cam rip. All scenes here –
but dubbed in Russian
They’re great scenes, but I don’t think they’re the best of the year. I think Emma Stone and Margareth Qualley’s scenes were better in Kind of Kidness (best sex scene of two stars in many decades), Leila George in Disclaimer. Even Demi Moore and Margareth Qualley in The Substance I think are ahead.
There’s no question Substance is gonna win Scoop’s poll this year
Mmm…. very nice!
It’s an Oscar contender so they’re taking their time getting this on VOD
It will be? I think it will be between these three that I mentioned
You may not have found this film funny, but it is definitely comedic, and I found myself laughing throughout. In a lot of ways it is similar in tone to the films of the Coen brothers.
I haven’t seen this yet, but the 2-3 other Sean Baker films I have seen have distinct, sometimes twisted, humor running through them.
We obviously have different senses of humor. I thought The Florida Project, like Anora, was an honest portrayal of life on the fringes, but definitely not funny. His work reminds me of the social realists like Mike Leigh and Ken Loach.
On the other hand, Greg the Bunny was pretty funny.
It is as funny as No Country For Old Men, if that’s what you mean.
And that’s because No Country for Old Men is an excellent film
Yes, it is. So is Anora.
Neither is a comedy, although some comedic elements inhere to the situations.
main actor are so lucky last years, before he have sex scenes with Ivleeva (all russian and ukrainian very good now this girl), and now very very sexy Madison) so lucky boy)
Hopefully someone can color correct all the shitty blue lighting.
dark episodes brightened a little bit colored, and all videos together –
Realistically, there isn’t too much you can do except brighten it. When a film is shot in natural light, with colors produced or altered by a filter (as in day-for-night shots), it’s pretty easy to remove the filter. In this case, the camera caught exactly what the eyes saw. The colors were produced by the way the interiors were actually lit. It’s much harder to restore that to natural tones, even if you edit frame-by-frame.
i know, but i just try make it more visible for anyone, bcs i also work in this this niche so many years, and understand what per cent brightness are best for eyes users for any parts of video (in this video dark parts brightness from 20 to 30 per cent, and a little bit colored), but it also so important what type of device you use when watch movie
We saw this in theaters, and it was a terrific movie – funny and sweet. Lots of nudity, also.
