Google’s AI bot says:
As of now, House of Ashur has not been officially renewed for a second season by Starz, despite high ratings [92% on Rotten Tomatoes] and a “resounding success” in viewership. However, creator Steven S. DeKnight has already written the entirety of a potential Season 2 and is highly optimistic about its return.
If the show is a “resounding success” in both viewership and critical success, what is the hold-up? Give DeKnight his money and let him go nuts. (I actually wrote to Starz to add my voice to those hoping for another season. I don’t think I’ve ever done anything like that before.)

I honestly don’t know to what extent these streaming services are a good business. I think in a few years only Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney Plus will be left… Because it’s a business that doesn’t make a profit; there are always news reports about it losing money. Even Disney Plus is constantly losing money for Disney. It seems that only Netflix makes a significant profit, and Amazon doesn’t need to make much of a profit because Amazon has other types of businesses.
My honest guess is that starz is on the way out. Or perhaps in negotiations to be acquired by someone else.
Either way they’re probably not greenlighting many shows at the moment. Even the new Amadeus show seems to be produced by sky and is airing on STARZ in the US..
Just a wild ass guess. But I mean, they are practically giving away the subscriptions at the moment. I think I got a full year for like eight bucks. How can that be profitable for Frito Lay?
Byron Allen is working to acquire it. That may have any new projects frozen while they do due diligence and check the books.
This series wasn’t a commercial success; viewership was never high and dropped with each subsequent episode. The new Spartacus was heavily criticized by audience. As you can see, naked men and gayness didn’t pay off. Female nudity in this series was scarce. And those merkins looked comical. Hello, it’s 2025. Nobody wants to watch merkins.
And if it weren’t for the gayness and naked dicks in every episode, this series wouldn’t have received high scores from critics. Naked dicks and gay content are driving up ratings these days, even for the biggest trash in terms of plot and acting.
Sure the U.S. is the subject of some problems right now, and some resentment in the rest of the world, because of the actions of the Orange Turd, its imperious leader. But let’s not take that out on its actors and actresses. I, for one, am still willing to watch Amerkins, whether they are in leading or supporting roles.
It’s precisely because we’re in 2026, you idiot, that in a few years you won’t even know if female or male nudity is real in these productions lol. Besides, many series and films have been using CGI for years in many of these nude scenes; with the advancement of AI, soon they’ll be creating nude bodies from scratch that look exactly like the actors and actresses. Penises and pubic wigs will be the least of your problems in that regard lol. You better get used to it, buddy.
Another Starz show in limbo is the third season of P-Valley. Unlike House of Ashur that one was already in the can.
