To be fair, I don’t know whether I would have guessed E-Rat except that the creator of the quiz made the choices obvious. I didn’t remember that pic for some reason. With the other four, I recognized them immediately, and didn’t need to look at the choices. That probably says something weird about my life, because I have spent at least a year with eight different women in real life, and probably could not score 100% with their pics! I know I could get three right for sure. The others would be a guess.
I’m pretty sure I have seen every one of those scenes/photos multiple before. On purpose. For science.

True. To this day, I’m not sure if she was actually supposed to show her vagina in that scene or if it was accidental. Hardly anything is truly accidental in scenes like that; everything is usually very carefully planned out. But I really don’t know—it doesn’t look like a very calculated move, either. What do you think, Scoop?

It’s kind of a matter of interpretation.
I would guess that nobody set out deliberately thinking “Hey, let’s get a a vag shot!”, but everybody was aware of the possibility of one, and they were OK with that. That’s just a subtler form of intention, isn’t it?
As for the show runners – they knew they had one of the world’s most beautiful women who was game to do the scene fully naked with no crotch patch; they knew where the cameras were; they knew that the scene would gain attention to the series; and if they didn’t want the vag in there, they could have told the editor to cut around the explicit angles.
As for Daddario – she went from a virtual unknown to the internet’s it girl. That is possibly the most reposted scene in the history of Reddit. You’d think people would get bored of seeing it again and again, but it seems to garner ton of “likes” every time. Did she know she would accomplish that with a beaver shot? No, probably not, but she must have known she was walking a tightrope with that scene. She knew she was naked; she knew where the camera was; and she knew her legs were apart.
Do you really think it’s the vag shot that makes her scene so memorable and so popular? I don’t. I mean, it doesn’t hurt, as the joke goes, but really, I think the reason this is maybe the most popular nude scene ever is that she has perfect breasts and perfect buttocks and they are extremely well displayed in the scene. The briefly exposed hooh-ha is just the cherry on top, so-to-speak.
I’ll just throw out that Emily Meade from the deuce did an interview about nude scenes and mentioned that she had been offered a role in an HBO show with an “academy award-nominated actor” that required full frontal nudity. She turned it down because of that.
Speculation is that it was the Daddario role in true detective. Which would imply that it was indeed planned to show everything from the casting call.
What’s especially interesting is if you look at the actual script for this scene, it does not require nudity at all. It’s written like “she jumps on top of him and they kiss – cut to the next scene”.
So we definitely have the director to thank for this one way or the other.
