Hopefully this kind of ridiculous censorship and law doesn’t come to the US eventually.

Russell Vought (of project 2025) , was recorded as saying his goal was to make all porn illegal. The are try to do so by using the backdoor of forced age verification.
This is coming from Denmark, one of the least religious nations in the world. It is not the product of religious conservatives.
And your point is… The question was whether it could come to the US, and with our fascist puritanical government, it certainly could.
One of the actresses said she felt ““molested or abused.”
Nice hyperbole.
I found more on this, apparently there is a US similarity of it under Visual Artists Rights Act (VARA) – 17 U.S.C. 106A that apply to limited edition artwork and not movies. This judge in Denmark has applied their own interpretation of their laws though.
Honestly, that’s all judges are anymore, look at SCOTUS, especially with Thomas and Alito. The conclusion is determined, and find legal rationale to enforce personal will upon others through the arm of the state.
Judges often make a conclusion and massage the law to justify it in.civil cases.
On the one hand this ruling seems about 25-30 years out of date, on the other hand, from the article, it seems the concern is with the alteration of images from the original, even if very slight: brightening the frame, a close up of the frame…
I think this might be more to do with copyright protection and pressure from the Danish film industry than anything.
If that was the case, you would think anything out of context would be illegal. Should we go back to the early days of the internet and any use of GIFs be prosecuted because it shows an actor out of context in a movie killing someone? It was a targeted ruling regarding sharing nudity that actresses consented to more than anything else.
This from the country that gave the world the Color Climax Corp and tore the lid off of Pandora’s box of porn. Denmark is not particularly religious but ethics and human rights are extremely important. This has lead to paradoxes, like this one, wherein by protecting one group, the legal system over reacts and “persecutes” another party. This decision might not stand an appeal.
Whether or not some yahoo jumps on the idea here remains to be seen.
i’m banned on reddit so i have no mercy for this throw them all in jail and let them cry it’s just words it’s just a meme it’s just video because they are first to ban
I think it would be hard for any actress who has done a nude scene in a movie to claim that she had no expectation that clips and screencaps showing her nude body would appear on the Internet. It is somewhat ironic that the Reddit moderator was charged in part because he showed the clips “out of context,” while sites like the Funhouse and Mr Skin rely on the doctrine of fair use in order to host all those film clips. One of the requirements for something to be fair use under U.S. law is that the use be transformative.
I am not particularly worried that the U.S. government will go after Internet porn in the near future. Although I can’t say I would be shocked if Pam Bondi had Stormy Daniels indicted on Trumped-up charges. For the time being, U.S.-based porn sites are in more danger from states passing age verification laws. There are a lot of sketchy sites out there, and I, for one, have no intention of giving any of them my credit card info.
*I meant to write that any actress who has done a nude scene in the last 25 years will find it hard to argue she wasn’t aware her nude scenes would be released on the Internet.
