Ambre is encouraged to further her education by middle class parents who dream of her becoming a lawyer. When an unplanned baby arrives, the whole family must reinvent itself. The young mother slams the door on the university, then on her parents, to prove that she can manage without them. She is not timid about seeking a job and an apartment because she is willing to move mountains for her son, but she is soon confronted with the harsh reality of the job market. She has a hard time accepting that her only option is to become a garbage collector for the city of Paris.
