I’m sort of proud and sort of embarrassed that I can recognize Mighty Manfred, the Wonder Dog on sight, although I have not seen any of those Tom Terrific cartoons since they originally aired, 70 years ago. The pride comes in that I seem to have a truly uncanny memory. The embarrassment comes in that fact that I can’t remember whether I ate lunch or where I set my reading glasses, despite the fact that I can still sing all words to all the songs from the kiddie shows and Westerns of the 1950s, and that I can remember that Tom Terrific and Mighty Manfred had to prevent Crabby Appleton from stealing all the holidays from the calendar.
