New drama series created by HBO and the BBC. Filming took place throughout Glasgow, particularly in the West End and Greenock, and in the town of Cumbernauld. The series also features scenes in a smaller town outside the city during the characters’ youth.
When Niall’s estranged ‘brother’ Ruben shows up at his wedding, it leads to an explosion of violence that catapults us back through their lives. Spanning almost forty years from the 1980s to the present day, this ambitious series will cover the highs and lows of the brothers’ relationship, from them meeting as teenagers to their falling out as adults – with all the good, bad, terrible, funny, angry, and challenging moments along the way. It will capture the wild energy of a changing city – a changing world, even – and try to get to the bottom of the difficult question: What does it mean to be a man?
Why the quotation marks around “brothers”? They are not blood-related brothers, but rather became close when they were forced to live together in the same house during their teenage years. One brother was a timid soul who struggled with bullying. The other was a violent delinquent who struggled with exams. Each eased the other’s struggles. The psycho brother even persuaded a girlfriend (Charlotte Blackwood) to take his brother’s cherry.
Per IMDB, it doesn’t seem that Charlotte will appear in additional episodes.
Pity, that.

That’s a good brother
