WTF? Only Michelle Obama emerges as a truly strong alternative to Biden

I have to admit that I had no idea how popular she is. Trump has at least a slight edge over all the other Democratic alternatives, but this poll shows him losing to Ms. Obama in landslide territory (11 points).

That’s pretty amazing when you consider that: (1) voters really have no idea where she stands on the issues (with a few exceptions); (2) she has consistently insisted that she has no interest in politics.

Come to think of it, maybe point (2) is the very reason people like her. Many people say that the greatest weakness of our system is that anyone who would want to be President should not be.

German town votes to exterminate pigeons

Needless to say, animal rights activists were appalled by this plan.

They didn’t ask me, but if they did, I’d say that Germany has to play by different rules, and that all German political entities should probably tread lightly when it comes to the inhumane exterminations of complete populations, even if they are pigeons.

And under no circumstances should they call it the final solution.

All dark humor aside, I found this interesting:

Critics say that as well as being cruel, pigeon culls aren’t really effective since any remaining birds will reproduce and replenish the population. Remarkably, some studies show that pigeon numbers can even increase following a cull. This was the case in Basel, Switzerland, which had a pigeon population of around 20,000. From 1961 to 1985, the city killed around 100,000 pigeons each year, but the population remained stable.

Apparently that same strategy wouldn’t produce the same result with fish. The biologists keep telling us that we’re destroying fish populations by over-fishing. So my conclusion is that we need to like the taste of pigeons, because unlike fish, they seem to be a self-renewing source of food.

I don’t know anything about this film, and neither does IMDb (no score, no reviews, no comments). Every website that mentions this project just has the same rambling, garbled paragraph that purports to summarize it.

Sal has the war within him. And he doesn’t want anyone to touch his face. He sometimes does dirty and risky jobs for his boss. When he meets the charismatic Sasha, he screws up an important coup and gets a taste of his boss’s disturbing violence. Sal goes into hiding. For Sasha’s sake, he gets involved in a heady tour de force with her friends Andy and Lucy, which causes Sal to undergo an incredible metamorphosis. Together they get lost in a labyrinth of drugs, sex, fears, violence and disorientation. Delicate and cruel, real and surreal, terrifying and strangely funny, love must be reinvented, real life lies elsewhere. But when his boss’s henchmen track down the four, defenseless, at an old farmhouse, a massacre is imminent.

From the ten minutes I watched, the script seems to be deeply demented. The summary above is not kidding about the drugs and disorientation.
