The Polish Nudografia site didn’t post any new films this week, but he sure came up with a great vintage offering. I had never heard of this film, but neither had anyone else. It has only 28 votes at IMDb.
Time Out describes it as follows:
A moonstruck enterprise, from the maverick independent international producer Paulo Branco, in which, on the first night of a fraught production of The Marriage of Figaro, Serre, playing the count, shoots dead Bosc, playing Figaro, with the latter’s own pearl-handled pistol. This is no more than the lippy servant deserves since throughout rehearsals he’s tormented the conductor with hints of some old injustice. The conductor, meanwhile, has grown increasingly obsessed with the memory of his former mistress, La Gravida, and her perfect voice. One of the singers (Krystyna Janda) loses her voice. ‘You have to be a real diva to lose your voice,’ the conductor’s current mistress says, comfortingly. News arrives of La Gravida’s retirement. The conductor swoons and expires. The Countess swears vengeance, and the Count, in the event, acts the gentleman. Vertigo, indeed.
OK
Maybe I won’t be watching that film, and the only video I could find is a VHS rip, but if anyone comes up with the HD clips to match Nudografia’s captures, I will absolutely watch them. Janda looks pretty great without her clothing, and her main nude scene goes on for (a very boring, except for her body) six minutes!
Teaser:
She is another contender for the Polish championship. She has been nominated for several Eagles, and Nudografia documents 20 of her roles, including this one, covering a span of more than 40 years (1977-2018). She is still acting, and is now 73.
