Man, these things would sell like hotcakes in Springfield, Ohio. They offer something for everyone. The white people would enjoy the racial slurs, and the Haitians could use them to drive the most delicious pets in their direction.

There is quite a lot of nudity, but as you can tell from the description above, Monica Guerritore, who provides that nudity, is not a young woman. (She is 66.)

The film’s world is suffused with an omnipresent technology that instills the memories of the deceased into willing “hosts” so as to provide comfort to the grieving. During these sessions, the host truly believes that they’re the deceased and that they aren’t yet dead. We wonder whether this temporary process leaves a permanent trace of the deceased within the host, creating a form of immortality.
In the central character arc, two people who have loved each other continue their love after one of them dies.

Evert time I see one of these films from the 1990s, as posted by Johnny Moronic and others, I realize how much I miss the free-wheeling efforts of the 90s when there were films for every taste. It seems odd to me that I didn’t realize how cool the 90s were when I was living them. After all, I realized the importance of the 60s (actually 1967-74) when I was there, because the changes in that era came at us rapidly and inexorably, like a charging rhino, but the 90s just sort of crept by me on little cat feet, like Carl Sandburg’s fog.
