The annual film festival’s organizers released an update to the dress code on Monday, May 12, which will bring its record of skin-baring naked dresses and carpet-covering trains to a screeching halt at the start of the 2025 edition.
A day before it opened, the Cannes Film Festival announced new rules banning nudity on the red carpet.
I was thinking why would France of all places do something like this but reading more it seems many people misunderstand the rule.
“Cannes released a statement clarifying the intent of their rules on May 12: ‘The aim is not to regulate attire per se, but to prohibit full nudity on the red carpet, in accordance with the institutional framework of the event and French law.’ ”
That doesn’t seem like it would ban see-thru tops for women.
