It was another bitter disappointment for Philadelphia, which always seems to finish second or third, but can never carry home the gold. The actual winner was ______.
I haven’t spent enough time in Philly to weigh in, but I know they are famous for booing Santa Claus, and I’ve seen the craziness after they lose sporting events. In my dad’s fanciful universe, he claimed that the Philly fans once booed him for several minutes when he “only” hit a ground-rule double while playing for the legendary Philadelphia Cheesesteaks baseball club. He had to pacify the angry mob by taking a pay cut.
Of the cities where I have spent a lot of time, I have to say that Boston seems much ruder than the actual winner, and I didn’t find Louisville, which placed quite high on the rudeness metric, to be rude at all.

NYC can’t even win rudest city anymore. It’s official. My home town is finished.
