Regarding Mary Reeser, what likely happened was that she died while smoking. The cigarette fell into her clothing and caught fire. The heat would have melted the fat near the skin and the fabric would have wicked the oil like a candle. You get these very localized fires with lower limbs left untouched because they detach. This typically happens only with women because of their fat distribution and also because elderly women tend to wear shawls or blankets which can act as effective wicks. I remember a forensics program demoed this using a pig carcass.
Alcohol is usually a factor as well. Fat and tons of alcohol in the blood combined with a slow, hot flame and the body becomes a candle.
I think I heard of the alcohol/fat thing as a cause of “spontaneous human combustion”, at least back when people talked about SHC. I don’t think I’ve heard of it for years, maybe decades.
The Solway Firth Spaceman photo was the mother behind the scene at a specific angle that other photos at the time put into context showing the blue dress overexposed as white.
Most of the ghost ones are overexposure or when a previous image puts itself on top of a newer one taken.
The only one I truly consider unexplained is the Phoenix Lights. The photo in this link, and the ones commonly shown over and over with the lights in a row over downtown are flares and not the actual event people reported, so it leads to a quick debunk when people don’t understand the timeline of the events with the flares being dropped as a exercise later in the night. Then with the governor (who later admitted he saw it too), making light of the entire situation by bringing in someone dressed as an alien it just became a target of ridicule.
There wasn’t a great video or photo taken, but dozens of witnesses saw a gigantic gun metal black triangular craft slowly hovering over the area in 1997. Surprisingly enough, Kurt Russell even made a report on it. There’s all kinds of information on it, the documentary ‘I Know What I Saw’ by James Fox is probably the best synopsis.
The Solway Firth photo is -theorized- to have this explanation. Except the father taking the photo says the mother wasn’t behind the daughter and he saw nobody else at the location.
On the Phoenix lights, Kurt Russell made his sighting -from the air- flying his plane into Sky Harbor. Makes the flare explanation a little silly.
There’s a strong theory for #1 (school of fish) and we know exactly what 4, 5, and 7 are. (The stories behind them may be unknown, but there’s no mystery about what is shown: the remains of a burnt woman, a man wearing goggles and a college t-shirt holding a camera from the era, and a lady who was present when the president was shot.)
The rest are solid.
