From the comment area:
The Cannes festival is happening now (as you may know) and many films so far seem to have had good doses of nudity and sex that seem to have been quite good and there are still more films that have not yet been released in Cannes and have potential. The most notorious so far was Jennifer Lawrence in the film Die My Love, it was confirmed that she has scenes of full frontal nudity and some wild sex scenes.
MUBI has acquired the rights to “Die My Love” in the U.S. and multiple other territories in a deal totaling $24 million. MUBI became a major player in our annual nude scene poll last year by distributing both The Substance and Motel Destino, thus giving them three of the top seven slots!
The Spot reported:
Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence gives herself to the character with every fiber of her being, is lavish in her revealingness, and certainly goes further in her performance and what she is willing to show of her body than one would expect from a star of her stature.
Accion Cine reported:
At the heart of this harrowing nightmare is Jennifer Lawrence, who has experience as a devastated mother thanks to Aronofsky’s Mother , who is completely devoted (à la Scarlett Johansson in Under the Skin ) and completely dedicated to a project she believes in.
IndieWire reported:
Seeing “Die My Love” at Cannes, European critics will be unfazed by Lawrence’s unvarnished and very naked turn, though in the U.S., she will be commended for her “bravery.”
The Times reported:
Grace suffers from a very specific movie-borne malady, the symptoms of which include throwing herself through plate-glass doors, masturbating incessantly, crawling through the woods like a tiger, masturbating some more, smashing mirrors with her forehead and ultimately becoming so sexually frustrated that she manifests a sexy hunk on a motorbike who repeatedly rides through her garden (not a metaphor) and entices her to come over to his house and to take a spin on his mean machine (metaphor).

I don’t know if I quite understood this comparison between Scarlett Johansson in Under The Skin and Jennifer Lawrence in this film, this correlation made in the Accion Cine review. They don’t seem like similar films, lol, they don’t seem to have anything to do with each other… Unless it’s something related to the weirdness of these two films, or maybe Lawrence’s supposed frontal nudity scene is something similar to Scarlett’s scene in Under The Skin, that scene in front of the mirror. I say this because there is a photo of Lawrence from this film and she is looking at herself in front of a mirror and she appears to be naked in the photo, although it doesn’t show her entire body, obviously.
The comparison was in regard to both actresses being committed to the movie to the extent of not flinching from a full, lingering nude scene.
PR
That is the meaning I took from it as well. It’s sort of written in code because the author feels it would be vulgar to come right out and say it. Apparently, legit reviewers would get canceled if they were to say directly what we say here.
All these Hollywood media people are just writing it the way they are told to. The only point they want to make is to advertise these actresses get naked in the film, but they aren’t supposed to seem like they are. So instead they say some bullshit like “she was really brave”, “she got more nude than you’d expect from a big screen actress” or “her nudity is considered quite controversial by some”. They just pull from the usual list of options.
They aren’t allowed to be honest like you, but they are doing the same job. Making sure everyone knows that these actresses are getting very naked. The only reason these media people exist is to help promote the films in the way that the producers want it promoted.
Yeah, this. I am still amazed by Under the Skin because this was ScarJo at the peak of her popularity as Black Widow in The Avengers. After two or three movies of her wearing a skin tight suit with the cleavage hanging out, we actually got to see her completely naked. Jennifer Lawrence might be a little past her peak of popularity (which was probably as Katniss in The Hunger Games) but the comparison is still there, despite being in a full frontal fight scene a year or two ago.
I am loving this development that well known actresses going very naked and provocative in artsy films seeking oscars.
Overall, I see this as a recent trend first shown by Emma Stone in “Poor Things” then Mikey Madison in “Anora” last year. I think that in her quest to win a second Best Actress Oscar, Jennifer Lawrence is willing to go naked with her character having sex on camera with Robert Pattinson’s character. Also in 2025, in her quest to earn a second Oscar legitimately, and not through Harvey Weinstein’s money and influence, Gwyneth Paltrow is willing to strip down with her character having lots of sex with Timothee Chalamet’s character in the upcoming “Marty Supreme”.
It would be crazy to see Gwyneth Paltrow naked again in the movies after many years. I didn’t expect it anymore lol
OK, here’s a review of it
They say it’s a really good film. So wave this in front of her, get her to go see it with you at the theater. You’re on the express train to Bone Town.
Or if you’re old and boring like me and you’re mainly interested in seeing some JLaw bewbs, keep this handy if you want to make the film version of the “I’m reading it for the articles” Playboy excuse.
There’s no comparison to J-Law and Scar-Jo 3:16 except in they both have great hooters.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival kind of sucks. All of these reports of standing ovations really bums me out. I blame Thierry Fremeaux for taking away the chaos of what made Cannes so great in the past. There’s no reports of overdramatic booing and people shouting at the screening during a bad movie. It’s now gotten safe and too much ass-kissing towards aging midget movie stars who is part of a lame cult.
In practice, the Cannes and Venice festivals have become just a preview of the oscar, for the last 8 years or so.
So what exactly does that mean? Pussy lips?
If it did, they would say something like, “Not only is Jennifer Lawrence’s brave performance the cat’s meow, you can almost see it’s vocal cords.”
God Bless Jennifer Lawrence !!!
