Republicans are complicit, even the old guard mostly agrees with his sentiments about social order in private. They just mainly get pissed at the tariffs because they or their rich donors take a hit.

The clock is ticking for him sooner rather than later with his age and health, and there’s not a damn thing he can do to stop it, neither can his cult supporters. His legacy is basically the Jerry Lewis picture that was so offensive & awful they buried it forever. The one in which Jerry played a sad Nazi clown or whatever the fuck. The one that people said, how could you have thought this was a good idea, and could you please burn the negatives.
Trump’s legacy will be like the guy who chiseled off the Sphinx nose. Nobody knows who he is, but he defaced a great ancient wonder for selfish reasons, that’s all we know. He didn’t have any talent to do anything great himself, so he chose ugly infamy, albeit anonymously. Mark Chapman’s another one. Trump’s a serial defacer, essentially; he sees that as his job.
AOC, Jeffries, Shapiro, or whoever the next Pres is will ultimately reverse or rectify most of this heinous shit. You’ll be able to get food stamps again without having to work until you’re 99 years old. Trump’s name will be joyfully scraped off buildings, and his golden idol statues melted down like Paterno’s. Blacks won’t be characterized as apes by the President. Other countries won’t boo, they’ll cheer someone who finally shoveled the reeking, maggot-infested pile of shit off the White House lawn.

Some Mussolini-era architecture endures, albeit stripped of its Fascist symbolism. Future leaders may strip Trump’s name from his ballroom and his arch, assuming they will be built, and they may remove his name from the Kennedy Center, but I’m betting that the structures will not be razed. In that sense, he will achieve the immortality he seeks.
They should put his face inside every toilet bowl of the White House. That would be a fitting legacy.
They should commemorate him by changing it to Fuckstick Station in New York and Dimbulb International Airport.
The best one, though, is already happening. A few Italian ladies printed out some little (like thumb-sized) pictures of Trump. They stuck toothpicks on them. Now they’re going around Milan during the Olympics sticking one into every pile of dogshit they see.
They’ll likely be repurposed if possible. I would imagine similar to how Christian/Catholic churches became Mosques in the Arabic world in the middle ages.
Or in modern times how large empty office buildings are turning into housing. The ballroom could be used as an auditorium, workspace, or something actually useful.

Despite everything, the clown manages to make the children laugh and forget where they are for a moment. By connecting with the Jewish children (even though he’s not Jewish himself) and even continuing to make them laugh (while jeopardizing his own chances of survival), he expresses his unconditional love and allows them to still be children.
The guards can’t stand this for a few reasons:
(1) His behavior and attitude confront them with their own lack of humanity;
(2) They want to keep the groups separated, because putting all inmates into categories (Jews, political enemies, homosexuals, and even just ‘asocials’, …) is a means of dehumanization and, with regards to the Jewish children, it is their justification for ignoring the fact that they are still just children (the clown considers them children rather than Jews, while the guards consider them Jews rather than children);
(3) By evoking the innocent laughter of children, the clown exposes a layer of unquenchable humanity, turning humor into a psychological weapon to defy the guards’ entire value system (they can’t fight back without being cowards).

I dunno, part of me thinks it might be too late for that now.
