I seem to have a lot of catching up to do

Uncle Scoopy's world-weary musings about naked celebrities, sports, humor and other important, manly things.
Video Happy Gilmore 2 is the Holy Grail for golf nerds. Most of the greatest golfers of recent times appear in the film, and many of them have lines. Tiger Woods is missing, but just about everyone else is around. In addition to today’s big names like Rory, Scottie, Bryson…

I saw that same list and have only heard of the top 40% or so, so I guess I’ve got some catching up to do, too. Though some titles haven’t even premiered yet (like the Chalamet ping-pong movie) so it’s not really a fair list for the non-festival-going general public.
Most movies win a lot of Oscars I can’t stand – safe, geriatric coffee table dog shit.
That list actually included this advice:
“Don’t let the five-hour-plus running time put you off this collective portrait of journalists….”
You can practically feel the self-flagellation in this article
“Good movie” and “Oscar bait” have been forking off from each other since at least Crash and Shakespeare in Love. I think it’s just their way of getting us to buy tickets to crap by telling us we *should* like it.
That is a pretty esoteric list. The only one among them that I have seen is “Sinners”, albeit it was very, very good – maybe the best movie I have seen in the last decade. I have never even heard of the most of the rest of them though.
“As American as apple pie and anti-authoritarianism”
Not sure if this was a joke. A huge chunk of the country is incredibly pro authoritarian. Especially those who flaunted how much they were anti for years. Cowards.
I’ll never understand why these types of lists come out before the year is actually over. It’s not like there aren’t any more movies coming out this year.
