I don’t usually agree with the ol’ shellacked stepparent, but he has a point here.
Sweeney decided to do a character movie about a lesbian boxer. She has gained weight, wears a stupid wig that doesn’t do much for her face, and is rockin’ oversized lesbian clothing like she’s given up on life, that makes her look like she’s 4 foot 11 and heading to the Walmart to beg for change.

I always thought Sydney was more hot than pretty. She is beautiful, but her body is much better. In terms of facial beauty, she doesn’t come close to other actresses in Hollywood. She has an ordinary beauty that you might find in anonymous girls on the street
What about Charlize? Back in The Devil’s Advocate or Reindeer Games days?
Charlize also had a normal beauty in these films. She was much more beautiful after the plastics surgerys she had, probably. She lost a lot of weight, her face less crowded
Sydney is decent looking, but I don’t think Hollywood actresses are any more beautiful than anonymous girls in every town in the world. There were girls in my high school that were just as hot as any Hollywood actress. I’m pretty sure that is true everywhere. Nothing that special about Hollywood. Actually, they seem to want to corner the market on 7s and 8s. They avoid women that are too sexy most of the time.

It is typical stupid Hollywood miscasting. It is only being done for Hollywood to show the world that Sweeney can do something other than take her clothes off. Actresses far better suited for the role were not selected so Sweeney can show this. It’s bullshit. Hollywood destroys many movies with horrible casting more than anything else.
Hmm… yes, Hollywood now has strict casting requirements, where the gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and nationalities of the actor must match the character they are portraying, unless it’s a Brit portraying an American. Makes it harder to demonstrate a wider acting range, but we shall no longer have a Kirk Lazarus, ever.
So really, Sweeney’s part should have gone to a real lesbian actor who can box. Or basically, Katy O’brian.
I always like to reserve opinions about things like this until they fail – or succeed. As I recall, approximately 100% of the internet said that Daniel Craig would be a terrible James Bond, and that many actors were better suited for the role.
And you may not remember how much whining there was when Sean Connery got the role. He was too Scottish. He was too working class. Blah. Blah. Blah.
And then when Kate Beckinsale was cast in Underworld. She’s too stiff. She’s too prim. She’s not athletic enough. She’ll never be able to throw a convincing punch.

This I agree with you. But at the same time, it’s always been like this… The most important thing is beauty, popularity and showing your breasts. Talent itself has never been the most important thing in Hollywood, especially with women

Yes, because they will fill her with prosthetics and make her uglier with makeup, etc. But just the fact of having her in the film already attracts the attention of the media and the public.
I think you misunderstand me. I find her hideously unattractive, regardless of what they do to her in this movie.

“Hideously unattractive”? Really? Maybe not to your taste, but I don’t think that “hideously unattractive” is a fair comment. She is not entirely to my taste either, at least in some of her looks – a bit too “Barbie Doll” for me. But she is far, far from being unattractive. And I do think that she is a reasonably good actress.
I honestly can’t tell from your comment if you do or do not know how personal tastes and subjective opinions work, although it leans toward “do not.”
