Netflix. German erotic thriller with a great deal of topless nudity.
No reviews. No votes at IMDb, but one IMDb commenter called it Fifty Shades of Rubbish
Lilli visits her sister Valeria, surprised to learn she’s engaged to a Frenchman, Manu. She spontaneously meets nightclub manager Tom, sparking an instant connection. A dark secret lurks behind the island’s events.

Just another observation here rather than a complaint. Observation.. we’re allowed to make those in the comments here?
I’m all for female directors, but anyone else notice this trend of female-led erotic movies and sex scenes frequently filmed to be so over stylized? The sex scenes are filmed like they are dream sequence, or a music video or something. And these many scenes with women having sex with clothes on? The hell? I get that everything can’t be male gaze, but that’s not really what I’m talking about here. It’s a definite trend that is repeating. I guess this is what women like? Damn. Stuff is terrible, hard to watch even. Lol.
I understand this criticism regarding some films. It’s because there are many different types of erotic films. Throughout the history of cinema and television, there have always been erotic films that don’t show much nudity and others that show a lot. Most of them are… quite explicit. But in the case of this film, the sex scenes are quite good and even realistic, if you ask me.
Really not a complaint. Yes, true, of-course. Not everything can be what I personally like. That said, the moment I saw the scenes begin, it was so obvious to me that a woman directed them. Instantly. Lol.
I think what I’m saying here is, it seems there is a trend where they can’t let sex just be sex.. it has to be turn into something else. It has have to some weird camera work or editing motif attached, or some stylish aesthetic included with it. It seems to be a female trope, if you will, which is interesting.
Ahh yes, that’s true. But as you said, it’s a movie and not the real thing, like how people actually have sex, and it’s not pornography, like it or not, and even pornography often uses somewhat fanciful techniques like the ones you mention.
I think prior to the events of the last 7, 8 years, there was a lot of just brazen, raw, realist sex being shown. Now.. yeah, no, almost none. IMO, the audience’s tastes haven’t actually changed much or at all. Not for the real adults of the audience. However, the approach to filming sex definitely has. It’s a trend. One very few have actually asked for, imo.
I also realize that not all female directors film it this way. Just saying, it is a trend I’ve seen again and again, and I see it occurring simultaneously in movies. TV, from multiple different countries. Just a lot of super stylized sex going on.
You may be right, things have really changed. But I just think what you’re talking about has always existed in cinema in sex scenes, lol. Just like some films in recent years have very realistic sex scenes, yes, and not too stylized.
I’ve noticed that in recent years, female nudity has only appeared in movies directed by women. Male directors prefer male nudity.
I don’t think they actually prefer it unless they are gay, which most are not. I’d argue they are doing it because they think they just have to. And to the one’s who seem to think they can ONLY shoot naked men, and never women, (which seems to be another trend) well, I don’t even know what to say about those dudes. Grow up, wake up, snap out of it, get over it. This isn’t what the general adult audiences actually want, and I know this is true. Also, it seems to be a very “english speaking nations” thing. A lot cowardly dudes, within context of the subject at hand, in these countries. Kinda brainwashed a little, I guess.
Look outside the U.S , outside the U.S both directors (men and women) don´t care and include female as they can , not as coward male american hollywood directors
UK and Australia are even worse than America. Other Euro nations and Latin America have all seen significant decline even if they are not as bad as Anglosphere. France is still probably the best of Western nations. Germany and Nordic nations have has had a massive declines despite their historically liberal approach to such content.
Sex scenes are actually more acceptable than casual nude scenes because the main taboo is any type of emphasis on feminine sex appeal. I believe this is because when a man and woman have sex it is perceived less like the woman is put on display. So the most dramatic decline has been in non-sex scene nude scenes that focus exclusively or emphasize female nudity. When you do see such scenes that is when it is mostly female directors.
Tyler Sheridan’s work sticks out to me today because it very much goes against this trend.
Spain puts some decent nudity in what makes it to Netflix: The “Through My Window” trilogy wasn’t a cinematic masterpiece by any means, but Clara Galle had at least one good topless scene in every one of them. (Some of which were also bottomless, but we didn’t see anything.)
The Netflix series “Elite” and the new “Olympo” also have several nude scenes each, of different combinations of people. (The latter stars Clara Galle.)
This site has led me to a few different things, though many of these works seem to have never come to the United States. I wish I had a region-free DVD player, but alas, no. Not yet.
Though the turn towards streaming and away from physical media means the American consumer will have less access to quality projects of a more adult nature, not less, in coming years.
Male directors, unlike women, are judged more rigorously by journalists. If they show female nudity in their film, they may initially receive negative reviews for what’s known as male gaze.
Yes, I understand… I realize that too
ANY sexy scenes or shots of Antje Traue (Faora in Man of Steel) in the film?
Thanks.
