This is a highly stylized revenge film with a unique gimmick: there is no dialogue! Well, technically the film ends with the only two lines, spoken between the psychotic baddie (Ben Foster in full psycho mode, as is his wont) and the anti-hero (Alan Ritchson, the same muscular guy who plays Reacher).
A drug lord, with the help of a corrupt cop, frames a blue-collar guy for a crime, for no reason other than to steal his girlfriend. The innocent man breaks out of prison and, hoo-boy, is he one angry mofo. Extreme violence ensues.
It’s a movie that held my attention to the end, which I never would have expected from a dialogue-free film. If you are interested in this concept, Variety (Owen Gleiberman) did a great review which is both learned and thoughtful, albeit (in my opinion) a bit too enthusiastic. The film scores 71% on the Tomato Meter, 6.1 at IMDb, which meshes pretty well with my evaluation.

I know typos happen, because they mostly happen to me. But when I see “frames a blue-color guy for a crime”, I picture Chief Wiggum going ‘Book ‘im Lou – one count of being a smurf.’
And yeah, home-grown or store-bought, those are a nice pair.

I haven’t seen this movie yet but I would like to.
I have the impression that the director Potsy Ponciroli saw Jalmari Helander’s Sisu and said “Hold my beer.”
Movie reminds of of the Buffy episode “Hush”, where 27 minutes of that episode were silent.
Surprised no one mentioned Silent Night from a few years ago as it can pretty much be described in the exact same way (a highly stylized revenge film with no dialogue). I thought it was decent overall, but the lack of dialogue was a bit boring at times. I’ll probably check Motor City out this weekend to see how it compares.
