AKA Love Without a Net.

This appears to be Italy’s effort to prove that they can make films just as empty and superficial as any from Hollywood. It is a fairy-tale romance employing all the 1980s/1990s rom-com cliches. They meet cute, they have moments framed by pastels and sappy songs, they drift apart … well, you get the point.

It follows a singer-songwriter in a downward spiral as she takes a last effort gig at a motorcycle rally in South Dakota where she meets Casey, a guitarist who walked away from his dream long ago.

Odd moves. She’s basically Elaine from Seinfeld. She seems completely uncoordinated and nowhere near the beat. The closest she approaches to the rhythm is when the song is cobbled to match her ordinary pace as she walks away.

But she does look cute!

We follow the stories of two heroes (if they can be called that, because they do not exude positivity at all), former musician Adam and his wife Eliška. Their marriage suffers after a tragic car accident in which Adam kills his girlfriend. Now they are in a difficult financial situation because of this, and Eliška is forced to earn money in the form of sexual live chats in order to support her family and their little son. However, during one night, the cup of patience overflows and irreversible actions occur that will forever mark their relationship – can they withstand this too? How much can one relationship suffer and what will we endure for love? And how many bad decisions can one person make in just one evening?

This is a German softcore that plays out like those assembly-line Cinemax films from the 1990s. So imagine that those Cinemax films had been made by Germans, and you should get the idea. I gather that it is part of a group of films to be produced by Amazon in conjunction with local German studios.

Very few people have seen this film (9 votes at IMDb), but film-rezensionen.de reviewed it in detail. Their summary:

Un/Dressed is just trivial glossy kitsch, accompanied by cuddly music that doesn’t really get the pulse racing. Even if the erotic scenes had been exciting, they would not have been enough to make up for the dreary rest.
