12-minute short from the USA, apparently made by non-professionals. I was not able to find out much about it. All of the links from IMDb are dead. The production group has a Facebook page, but it is either deleted or set to private. Ditto with their Vimeo account.

Lindsay is invited to take part in a casual encounter with married couple Charlie and Tiffany but the good times take a dark turn when one of the participants reveals a plan to use this opportunity as a way to bring forth the Devil’s child.

This is a Netflix series from Spain that features tricky, dark murder mysteries with complex underlying themes and lots of misdirection. In that respect, it’s similar to True Detective, except that the people solving the crimes are journalists rather than policemen.

Francisca Aronsson was topless in the first two episodes of season two because Europeans love autopsies. In Spain, it has surpassed bullfighting as the #1 spectator sport.

(Note to the stupid: I’m fuckin’ witcha. Obviously football is the #1 spectator sport in Spain, and I don’t know whether Europeans love autopsies. Maybe they just love green lighting.)

NOAA study ranks groundhogs for weather-predicting accuracy

For the record, NOAA found that Punxsutawney Phil ranked a poor 17th among weather-forecasting groundhogs. Here are the leaders. The most accurate weather predictor of the bunch was Staten Island Chuck, who accurately predicted the arrival of spring 85% of the time.

THIS YEAR’S PREDICTIONS: Phil and Chuck disagreed, like tiny, burrowing versions of Mad Dog Russo and Stephen A. Smith. Phil predicted six more weeks of winter this year, while Chuck predicted an early spring.

Given the lack of reliability in these predictions, it seems to me that the NOAA needs to spend more of my taxes to determine whether other burrowing animals are more accurate than ground hogs, and whether above-ground hibernating animals could be more effective.

I would not want to be the meteorologist who has to get a hibernating grizzly into the sunlight.

Now if I wanted to account for climate change, I would use a blind ground hog. He would therefore never see his shadow, and therefore would always predict an early spring. He might not always be right, but he’d always be a crowd-pleaser on Feb 2.
