Two decades after her brother mysteriously disappeared on Vancouver Island, a documentary filmmaker sets out to solve his missing person’s case. When a disturbing piece of evidence is revealed, she comes to believe he might still be alive.
That description makes the film sound like a documentary. It is not. It is a fictional horror story in which a documentarian is a character. It is a low-budget Canadian feature that won some Leo awards. (In addition to Canada’s Genie awards, British Columbia has its own called Leos. I didn’t know this until now.)
The “found footage” trope is always a good pretext to explain why a micro budget film looks like one.
