The second half of the Australian movies for 1987 plus the only New Zealand movie to make the list, bizarrely the PG-rated The Leading Edge. There’s extensive nudity in the brothel drama Kiss the Night and bizarro comedy Pandemonium plus a whole slew of dramas.

I’ve never seen The Leading Edge, but I hope the reviewer didn’t consider the PG rating bizarre just because there was a naked girl in it. The rating system is based mostly on the quantity of elements in it and not what the element is. And nudity doesn’t really rate that big a deal especially if non-sexual. Most Hollywood movies end up an R because of the constant cursing, type of dialog and violent elements. If you took that out and just put some naked women in it, you can get a PG or PG-13 rather easily. Hollywood doesn’t do this because they don’t want naked women to be a commodity for business reasons. With streaming taking over, Hollywood cannot really prevent it anymore as they are losing power over distribution. They’ll be the last to change as usual.
That is not true at all. Just because it was allowed in the 70’s-80’s and to some extent the 90’s doesn’t mean it still is. Culture changes. There have been movies rated R for just showing womens breasts such as “I Capture the Castle” (2003). No movie would get away with a PG rating showing tits today unless it was breastfeeding or some educational/historical context and even a PG13 rating would be hard to get unless it was very brief or fleeting.
