She is 46 now, but seems younger because she’s still so beautiful and because she hasn’t been around very long for somebody that age. She was a late bloomer. She was already 31 when Jolene came out. Given that she’s comfortable with nudity, we could have seen a lot more from her if she had broken through earlier.
Here’s what we did see:
2006 – Salome – (age 29).
This film was lensed in 2006, but released many years later. It finished among the top ten nude scenes of 2014, partly because she was by then at the peak of her fame, coming off two consecutive Oscar nominations. It was quite a treat to discover that this A-lister had performed the dance of the seven veils when she was still in her twenties. Her fame was good for no better than ninth place in what was the all-time greatest year for nude scenes.
2008 – Jolene (age 31).
2012 – Lawless (age 35)
This scene, despite being in near blackness, somehow placed 11th in the balloting for the best nude scenes of 2012, primarily because Chastain’s career was then on fire.
