The bad news: everything humanity has ever created will be lost for billions of years, until space travelers find the only remaining, pathetic ruins of our existence: a few styrofoam containers. It will be the only clues they have to piece together what sorts of creatures once inhabited this planet.
The good news: fewer Christmas movies this year.

It in fact directly contradicts the headline with a section entitled “Low Probability, High Consequences”… this about Yellowstone and “new” data for those who would rather not click.
My experience with the few things in which I’m somewhat competent is that news articles about them are rife with inaccuracies, oversimplifications, and directed agendas. The biggest one in my history was the “60 Minutes” piece “A is for Apple.” in particular their deplorable treatment of Dr. Bruce Ames. (Yes, that Dr. Ames, the developer of the Ames Test, the worldwide standard to determine mutagenicity.) My a-ha moment came when I realized this likely extrapolates to all news articles: rife with inaccuracies, oversimplifications, and directed agendas!
If articles are exceptions to this, they will have links to their sources. Don’t always assume they’re coherent enough to have an agenda. Drug trials in particular, there are only two story options – This is A Cure For Anything or This is Coming To Kill Us All.
If any eruption similar to those occurring once every 700,000 years that still managed to rock the US, it would be the ultimate irony that people who support brutalizing and turning away others would themselves become refugees.
I’m assuming everywhere South of the US would have its ‘fuck you, got mine’ moment.

I sure as hell am not out there supporting rounding them up into camps spending hundreds of millions for an invented problem because they look different and any crime committed is amplifying on propaganda channels. I sure as hell could do the same with any fellow white person on anecdotes with the amount of child molesters and porn criminals I see locally reported constantly.

I don’t watch MSNBC, or any other news. I use logic and statistics, not anecdotes from FOX News or Newsmax because fragile conservatives with no balls are hiding behind their guns because they showed a brown person on TV charged with a crime.
