Timothée Chalamet was once considered the likely winner of the Best Actor Oscar for his role in this film. His likelihood on the betting markets was 78% on February 9th. The bloom disappeared from his rose, however, for a variety of reasons, while Michael B. Jordan’s popularity kept increasing to an eventual victory. Chalamet plays Marty Mauser, an aspiring table tennis champion, fiercely determined to be the best in the sport. Although the story is fictional and original, the character was inspired by real-life table tennis player Marty Reisman.
Marty Supreme was nominated for nine Oscars, winning none. That is not the record for futility, but it’s close. There are now ten films with nine or more nominations without a win.
The Color Purple – 0-for-11
The Turning Point – 0-for-11
The Irishman – 0-for-10
True Grit (newer version) – 0-for-10
Gangs of NY – 0-for-10
American Hustle – 0-for-10
Peyton Place – 0-for-9
The Little Foxes – 0-for-9
The Banshees of Inisherin – 0-for-9
Marty Supreme – 0-for-9
All of those films are rated at least 7.0 at IMDb except The Turning Point (6.8), which gets the same disrespect from IMDb voters that it got from Oscar voters.

Incidentally, when Chalamet went down on Gwyneth in that scene, he reported that her vagina smells just like a candle.

I believe Marty Reisman was also an inspiration (if that’s the right word) for the movie Balls Of Fury.
I think for sure that she popped out a bit, based on that picture. Not that I will see it on the screen. There is no way I am sitting through another Safdie movie. I saw Uncut Gems at TIFF a few years ago and would have walked out on it if my seating circumstances in the theatre had more easily allowed it (and I just about never walk out on films). It was among the most grating film watching experiences that I have had. My understanding from the reviews that I have seen of Marty Supreme is that it channels a similar sort of film watching experience.
Just saw the film. It definitely is a bit like Uncut Gems in its intensity, but I found myself much less exhausted after the film, and liked it a lot better than Uncut Gems (was it even possible to like Uncut Gems? Well crafted yes, likable no).
As for Paltrow’s tit, the film has me convinced that it is indeed a bit of tit.
Thanks for the additional info. If the film is as you say, then maybe I could give a try to sitting through it, despite my loathing of the Uncut Gems experience. Worthwhile to give it some further consideration, anyway.
She maybe a vapid bitch but she’s still got nice tits.
Very disappointing, no nudity in her shower fuck with Chalamet & way too much of his ass
Despite her nudity in Flesh and Bone (1993), etal, her sexiest scene ever was in Iron Man 3. So buff. It’s all relative.
Y’all got to see her full tits out 33 years ago. Go look at those. Sadness seems an affectation these days.
“her sexiest scene ever was in Iron Man 3. So buff.”
Say what you will about the whole Marvel/Disney machine, they do not skimp on the trainers.
There’s an interview with Greta Lee (I think on the Graham Norton show), where she talks about the training she got for Tron: Ares was INTENSE and she was in the best shape of her life, and then says, “But then in movie I’m stuck in a full body suit the whole time! I finally had abs and you couldn’t see them!”
Lol just like that bozo Kumail Nanjani, same thing with his Marvel movie
The Irishman and American Hustle definitely got ripped off.
I totally agree on American Hustle and a couple of others. It’s astonishing on a few more of them for how popular and/or relevant for the time. Those years must have been loaded right up for competition.
