Arthouse drama directed by Kristen Stewart
Brought up in an environment torn apart by violence and alcohol, Lidia Yuknavitch seemed destined for self-destruction and failure until words offered her unexpected freedom in the form of literature. The Chronology of Water, adapted from Yuknavitch’s autobiographical bestseller, follows Lidia’s journey to find her own voice in an exploration of how trauma can be transformed into art through re-possessing our own bloody histories, particularly those uniquely experienced by the bodies of women and girls.

You can be sure it will never find a decent theatrical distributor. Such nudity is unacceptable these days.
Dude, J. Law is showing tits n ass in a movie out in TWO WEEKS
It seems to be an indie film and they signed a big distribution deal with MUBI. It may well be a limited distribution movie more easily seen in streaming. It is a simple fact that the large US media Hollywood producers control most of the widely distributed films in theaters and they put very little nudity in them. Everyone else has no limits on the amount of nudity, but they do have a much harder time with distribution. If they didn’t have a harder time with distribution, we would have a ton of movies with naked actresses all the time. The fact that they are hard to distribute is why there aren’t that many made. Now that streaming it taking over, expect more and more streaming deals to help make these films more common.
It’s suprising she was willing to do the shaving scene if it’s really her and not just a double with some camera trick or her head pasted with CGI on a double’s body.
Like in Nymphomaniac when there was actual porn, but the actors’ heads were put on pornstar bodies.
Surprising, yes. Imogen Poots strikes me as an outlier, so I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that this isn’t a trick. I’ll need to see some more (of the hopefully) missing context than this 8s can’t see her face clip. It’s conceivable, based on prior impressions of the look of her body & head. There’s also maybe a quick flash of pubes in the swim scene when she flips over to backstroke, or maybe that’s just a shadow. Again, need to see more & in higher quality.
No doubt about seeing her tits again, though. That’s a good bet.
In the movie All of You, she placed restrictions on what could be shown and what couldn’t, but here she broke all the anti-nudity barriers she had done in the past, it’s literally a before and after.
Helps to have a world famous lesbian movie star as your director, I have no doubt that’s her real bush “It’s for art, y’know?”
Thank goodness for real bush, but disappointing that she is shaving it. I am hoping though that it is just a light trim.
A few years ago we had “The Shape of Water” so I guess “The Chronology of Water” is the next in the series? What’s coming up next, “The Wetness of Water”?
Regarding the shaving scene, if that is real, and a mainstream actress really shaved her hooh-ha on camera, well, that would be epic to say the least. I wonder if we we will ever know for sure?
