I remember all the controversy about this one. Because Fawcett was a superstar and this was her first nude role, and because it’s a sci-fi horror (a genre that barely existed) I can remember a bunch of rumors. Now, I was 10. I was a nerd into horror and sci-fi, but I wouldn’t see this for years until I caught it on cable.
I remember a rumor (no idea from where) that it was a love triangle between her, Douglas, and the robot, and that the robot molested and raped her along with other horrors it perpetrated. Graphic slasher-like kills.
And of course none of that was true, beyond the relatively simple nude scene here.
Saw this with some HS friends and we were PIIIIIISSED! You’ve got basically all the nudity in these clips – one nip for about two seconds.
This is one film where I hope they saved the original film so maybe someday someone will find it. She is nude several times in the film, but we only get fleeting glimpses. They certainly filmed everything and then cut it down to the briefest looks. There was one sexy scene of her that was completely cut out of the film, but has since shown up at least on youtube. Hopefully one day they will start remastering all these old films, putting in the longer nude scenes they cut out. They will be able to make money off it, but they kind of need to do it before everyone that remembers these actresses have passed on.

No, she’s done them before (in Myra Breckinridge) and after (a couple of times). She didn’t do many nude scenes given how famous she was for her breasts, but she did some.
Her best nude scene was probably Dr T and the Women. She was fully nude, but it was a bit of a distance. This was the same time she was posing fully nude in Playboy along with videos so the film wasn’t that big a deal. When she did Playboy, she said she wished she had done it in she was younger.
Unfortunately, actresses doing nude scenes in the US in the 70s was often widely criticized so many like her were afraid to do it. Jacqueline Bissett had to defend just doing the wet-t scene in The Deep for years saying things like they didn’t know it would turn out that way. It was silly to even attack Bissett as she had already done a few nude scenes in the early 70s, but Hollywood and the US media usually act very against actresses doing nude scenes except in certain cases. Occasionally they lighten up and those are the times we get the best scenes like the early 90s.
Funny, I sure did remember this scene from Saturn 3 (saw it in the theater) but not any of the others and I surely did not recall that she was in Playboy. How the hell did I forget that?
