Julia Duffy was topless in the immortal cinema treasure Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker (1982), which is now available in 4K
You remember her as Stephanie, the spoiled rich girl who had to work as a maid at Bob Newhart’s inn in rural Vermont. The Newhart series made her face universally recognizable, and earned her seven consecutive Emmy nominations, granting her permanent respectability, but before that gig began she did a topless sex scene in this low-budget slasher film called Night Warning. (In home media releases it is called “Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker.”)
The diminutive actress is 73 now, and has written an autobiographical account of her years in showbiz. The AADA praised its honesty, calling it “an irreverent, light-hearted look into the real world of auditions – the good, the awkward, and the hilariously strange. In it, she regales readers with side-splitting stories of her own ‘bad’ auditions, in order to give fellow performers both insight and hopefully a sense they’re not alone.”

I always thought she was super cute, and this scene was effectively lost for years. It’d never been capped and the movie was out of print. Apparently during the home video days, it had been primarily released as a rental copy, so when that went out of print all that existed were very used former rentals. Eventually it received a digital transfer and she was revealed to the greater world.
Capped it on vhs back in the day when it was 1st released. That was my thing. Indeed, all those wasted hours capping vhs nude scenes. Who knew? 😮
There was a time that tape would have been worth a lot of money to the right collector. Just from the horror side, it was a lost gem for many. The nudity just spiked interest.
Duffy was in “Palm Royale” on AppleTV just a couple of months ago. Still quite recognizable.
