Johnny Moronic’s comments:
Carnal Vessels is a low budget body swap comedy where two on-off lovers Olivia (Arnijka Larcombe-Weate) and Alex (Daniel Simpson) go on a date but after coming to an impasse as to what they want to do in their relationship, they decide they’d rather have sex. But during sex, they swap bodies and now they have to deal with this. Alex now Olivia finds out Olivia now Alex is seeing a boy named James (Dylan Stumer) on the side and he/she decides to confront him but doesn’t know where he is. He/she ends up at a pub where they decide to flirt with the trivia quizmaster Kyle (Cantona Stewart) but when they go back to his place, it suddenly becomes all too real when it comes time to being intimate and he/she runs away. Olivia/Alex goes looking for Alex and ends up at her house where she finds her overly amorous mother Susan (Astrid Wells) wanting to ‘play’ with her as him which weirds her out. Alex/Olivia tries to avoid his housemate Erin (Shanay De Marco) who he had a fling with and ends up finding James. Alex/Olivia decides to be with James but Olivia/Alex tracks them down and ends up finding out something disturbing about James that she didn’t know before and now needs to save Alex/Olivia from a big mistake. Typically silly comedy which is strangely low key about the body swap stuff but it does have a few amusing moments. As the movie takes place only over a few hours, the movie seems a bit limited in exploring the possibilities of the body swap and feels a little short but it’s not bad and there’s enough silliness to keep it going for it’s 70-odd minutes without turning into a broad comedy which usually happens with these types of movies.
