Crime/horror film from Spain. Now on Netflix. Also known as Cavern Crimes. Literal translation: “The Footprint of Evil” or “(The) Trace of Evil.” It was written and directed by Manuel Ríos San Martín, who adapted his own novel.
In the prehistoric deposit of Atapuerca, a young girl is murdered in the same ritual manner as another girl six years earlier. The similarities with the previous murder persuade the judge to reunite the two homicide detectives who investigated the first case, hoping that their knowledge about the killer will allow them to get the arrest that previously eluded them. As the investigation begins, the detectives find that the murdered girl isn’t as innocent as she seemed. She was part of a cult obsessed with prehistory and the wild, amoral lifestyle of the hominids.
The two detectives, ex-lovers now embittered, are forced to set aside their differences to nab the culprit. Convinced that their original suspect has returned to his murderous habits, the couple must work against the clock to prove their theory before the killer strikes again.
Spain is producing some pretty good cinema nudity lately. This is no exception.
