Tonino, a young Italian artist of twenty years, undertakes a trip to Paris in the footsteps of his dead parents. On the banks of the Seine, he meets Mario, an old bookseller mad about literature who helps him sell his paintings. Soon, another artist -a mature woman painter- enters his life. For Tonino, she becomes a mother, a goddess, a lover.
